* Fresno City College 74, West Hills College 68

Fresno Bee:

"Even without its best defender, the Fresno City College men’s basketball team still came away with a victory.

Freshman guard Evan Stillahn hit four 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 14 points as the Rams — ranked No. 1 in the state for a third straight week — clinched a tie for the Central Valley Conference title with a 74-68 victory over West Hills on Wednesday.

The Rams (25-3, 9-0) played without sophomore guard Dejon Burdeaux, who’s nursing a shoulder injury. But long-range shooting, with the Rams nailing 12 3-pointers in all, helped move Fresno City within a win over Reedley on Saturday of wrapping up the CVC outright and likely clinching the No. 1 seed in the North Regional..."

*  Cabrillo College 72 - Monterey Peninsula College 70

From Cabrillo College Basketball:

With 4 games remaining in the regular season the Cabrillo Men's Basketball Team found themselves with their backs against the wall. Win 4 straight or possibly miss the playoffs for the first time since 2009. First up was a tough Monterey Peninsula Team that had knocked off Cabrillo in Monterey in January. This time the game was in Aptos and Cabrillo was seeking revenge. The game did not start well for the Seahawks, MPC started the game on fire, hitting everything they shot and jumped on Cabrillo early to the tune of a 26-13 advantage with about eight minutes left in the first half. A big three in the corner by Johann Schmidt got the comeback started, Cabrillo's defensive intensity stepped up and a Zavon Jackson basket with 29 seconds left in the half would culminate the comeback and tie it all at 34. An MPC answered with a triple as the half ended, giving them a 37-34 lead at the break.

As the second half got started MPC came out firing again, increasing their lead to 10, 48-38 before another furious Cabrillo rally made the game close. A Latrell Wilson three with 10 minutes left would give Cabrillo its first lead at 58-56 and the rest of the game was a back and forth affair, neither team able to hold a lead. With a 69-68 lead and under a minute to play MPC would finish at the rim to take a 70-69 lead. After a Cabrillo time out, Cabrillo put the ball in the hands of Allen Wilcher who drove to the basket as the shot clock ticked down, drew three MPC defenders and found Seth Warfield on the right wing for a wide open three that he would knock down giving Cabrillo a 72-70 lead with under 20 seconds to go. Monterey had one last shot to win it with a deep three as time ran out but it would fall short and Cabrillo would prevail.

Wilcher would lead the Seahawks in scoring with 21, Wilson had 20 and Jackson finished with 11.
