In the final home game of the season for the Slugs, senior James (Sacramento High) Townsend provided 15 rebounds, 13 points and three blocked shots, junior Jared Ponce led with 20 points and sophomore Tyler (Bella Vista High) Berkness contributed 15 as UC Santa Cruz bested UC Merced.
Michael Pierick's 19 points paced UCM and Josh (Pinole Valley High) Kimble aided the cause with 15 while Ryan (Kennedy High) Edwards finished with 14.
