Why are less fans in the seats for Pac-12 matchups?

Ryan Hartje takes a look at the dropping attendance figures in the Pac-12 Conference.

Scheduling a game on Super Bowl Sunday, considering the traffic difficulties of southern California, is beyond any reason regardless of the demands of a television contract. Surely one exception can be made.

But it is cause for concern when UCLA and Oregon are dropping bigtime. However, if Steve Alford recruits to the full capability of that storied program then all will be fine. With Oregon, it's a little harder to figure but it's not like Dana Altman is bringing in any future NBA-ers for fans to see plus the Ducks have dropped backwards in overall talent. Maybe the negative publicity of late resulting from various unacceptable behaviors is also a factor.
