Yes, this is extrapolated from a single day but with 22 northern California JC teams participating in a tournament and 12-15 players on each squad: the thought that so few of the players will reach the D1 level. Maybe eight.
This is not to lament anything or to belittle participating in the DII and NAIA ranks but rather to drive home how difficult it is to actually land, between the factors of talent levels and academics, a D1 scholarship.
