"ACLIESE NAMED COAST CONFERENCE SOUTH MVP"

"The Coast South saw a Seahawk take home the Conference MVP award for the seventh consecutive season on Sunday as Linton Acliese was given the award by the Coast South Coaches. Acliese, who came to Cabrillo from Manville HS in Texas, is the second consecutive true freshman to win the award for Coach Tony Marcopulos. Acliese averaged a shade over 20pts, 8rbs and 1.5blks a game in Conference play while shooting over 55% from the floor and 77% from the line. Linton was an unstoppable offensive post presence on most nights with a variety of post moves and a soft shooting touch. Acliese was joined by last year's Coast South MVP Brett Reed (Woodlands, TX) who was named First Team All Conference after averaging over 12pts, 11rbs and 3.5asts a game. Reed, who is the heart and soul of the Seahawks, led the conference in rebounding and double doubles for the second consecutive year. Freshman PG Tynan Velasquez (Colorado Springs, CO) was named to the 2nd Team after averaging over 14pts, 7asts, 2stls a game and shooting almost 90% from the foul line. Amenofis Mitchell (Missouri City, TX) rounded things out for the Seahawks being named Honorable Mention All Conference and averaged over 12pts and 5rbs a game. This was the second consecutive year that four Seahawks were honored by the Conference.
