Two Nor-Cal-ers honored at Whitworth

LINK "...Kenny (Cardinal Newman) Love of Whitworth University has been named to the 2017 All-Northwest Conference men's basketball first team, while Kyle (Marin Academy) Roach was voted to the second team.

The NWC office released the 2017 All-NWC men's basketball team, which is based on voting by league coaches, on Tuesday afternoon...

...Love (Sr., Santa Rosa, Calif.), who was the 2015 NWC Player of the Year, is leading the Northwest Conference in assists with an average of 4.6 assists per game.  He also leads all NWC players in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2). He is averaging 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while making over 90% of his free throws. In January he became the 28th men's player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points and now ranks 15th on Whitworth's all-time scoring list with 1,201 points. He dished out a career-high 12 assists in the Bucs' season-opening win over St. Olaf (Minn.).

Roach, a sophomore from Marinwood, California, has earned the first All-NWC recognition of his career. A second team selection, he leads the Pirates in scoring (15.9 ppg), rebounding (5.3 rpg) and steals (1.4 spg). He is making 54.4% of his field goals and 43.6% of his three-pointers, which both rank among the top five in the NWC this season. Roach has been selected as the conference's player of the week twice this season, on November 28th and December 26th..."
