The road to Sioux Falls, S.D. begins in La Jolla for eight west region squads, including the four from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), three from the Pacific West Conference (PacWest) and one from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).
UCSD (25-5) will play as the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 8 seed Dixie State (19-8). Without Conference overlap this season the other three matchups are PacWest Champion and No. 2 seed Hawaii Pacific (28-2) vs. No. 7 seed Sonoma State (20-8), GNAC Champion and No. 3 Western Washington (25-5) vs. Chico State (23-7) and No. 4 seed Cal Baptist (25-4) vs. No. 5 seed San Francisco State (25-5).
The Tritons secured the Conference automatic bid to the NCAA West Region Tournament with Saturday's 78-63 win over SF State. This year marks the program's third appearance, second-straight, since joining Division II in 2000. The Gators join the regional field for the first time since 1993-94.
Chico State extends its NCAA postseason stretch to six-stright berths, while Sonoma State returns to the field for the first time in 11 years and the eighth time in program history.
