"Garner Receives NAIA All-America Honor"

"Mid-America Christian University senior guard Olajuwon Garner has been selected as an NAIA All-America Honorable-Mention performer, the organization released today.

Garner's selection marks the seventh straight season the Evangels have had an NAIA All-America pick.

In his only season with the program, Garner put together the finest three-point shooting season in school history.

Garner made 109 threes and shot 45.6 percent (109-239) from beyond the arc, both setting all-time school records.

His sharp-shooting wasn't limited to the perimeter, as he also hit 91.9 percent (57-of-62) of his free-throw attempts while also leading the Evangels with 14.8 points per game this season.

"Olajuwon worked really hard on his jumper throughout the season and that showed," MACU head coach Josh Gamblin said.

"He came in a really good shooter and worked himself into a great shooter."

Out of Deer Valley High, Olajuwon averaged 14.8 points per game this season.
