The Anteater prevail in the OC

Visiting UC Irvine crossed Orange County and emerged with a 79-69 triumph over Cal State Northridge. Will Davis enjoyed 13 points plus eight boards for the Anteaters while teammate Travis Souza totaled seven points in eight minutes of court time.

McNealy and Davis pace the Anteaters

Irvine topped Hawaii last night 68-64 as Chris McNealy paced the Anteaters with 15 points, six rebounds, five steals and a pair of steals. Will Davis contributed 13 points to the cause.

Irvine over Fresno State

UC Irvine went into Fresno and grabbed a 58-51 victory over the Bulldogs. Will (Sacramento High) Davis scored six points and blocked a pair of shots but owned the boards with 15 rebounds. Also for the Anteaters, Chris (San Ramon Valley High) McNealy led with 13 points.

Tyler (St. Francis High) Johnson didn't shoot well for the hosts (1-8) but finished with 10 points (8-8 at the foul line), seven boards and three steals.

UC Irvine romps

As expected, UC Irvine had no trouble with San Diego Christian, winning 94-52. A number of Bay Area/northern California talents enjoyed big games for the Anteaters:

* Chris McNealy - 11 points, four rebounds

* Travis Souza - 10 points, 2-3 shooting from long distance

* Mike Best - 10 points 5-8 shooting, , four boards

* Will Davis - six points, nine rebounds, five blocked shots

Mcnealy, Davis and Best aid the Anteaters

UC Irvine came up two (or three really) points short in a matchup with Sam Houston State, 65-63.

In relation to northern California, Chris McNealy posted an impressive line: 16 points, seven boards and seven rebounds. Will Davis produced 12 rebounds, six points and four blocked shots. In 13 minutes, Mike Best had seven points.

Irvine handles Liberty

UC Irvine thwarted Liberty 64-49 (next it will be life and pursuit of happiness) last night with Chris McNealy  posting 10 points plus three assists in 18 minutes of court time while Will Davis contributed six points, three boards and three blocked shots in 22 minutes of play.

UC Irvine falls just short

UC Irvine almost did it, pushing host UCLA to the brink in overtime before the Bruins triumphed 80-79.

Will (Sac High) Davis produced 12 points plus seven boards while Mike (Terra Linda High) Best totaled six points and four rebounds in 13 minutes.

Irvine over Nevada

Host UC Irvine took down Mountain West Conference member Nevada 78-64 Saturday night.

For the Anteaters, Will Davis totaled eight points, seven rebounds and four blocks in 21 minutes as a starter in the middle. In 20 minutes of play, Chris McNealy contributed five rebounds, three assists and two points.

Irvine wins, powered by Nor Cal talents

It was host UC Irvine over Vanguard last night in a very high scoring 101-92 contest.

As for the Nor Cal players, Mike Best started at center for the Anteaters and scored four points while grabbing five boards and blocking a pair of shots in 13 minutes of action. Will Davis had four, four and two respectively, also in 13 minutes. Chris McNealy enjoyed 15 points.

Irvine 95, Northridge 84

It was UC Irvine 95-84 over Cal State Northridge Saturday night as Chris McNealy posted 21 points, five assists and a trio of rebounds and frosh Will Davis rejected eight Matador shots along with scoring nine points and grabbing six caroms in 26 minutes of action.

Irvine 78, EW 73

Collin Chiverton led Eastern Washington with 20 points (in 26 minutes) but host UC Irvine still prevailed by five. For the Anteaters, Chris McNealy scored 15 points and added seven assists, Mike Best provided 12 points, six boards and four blocked shots in 15 minutes of court time and Will Davis contributed six rebounds, four points and four blocks also in 15 minutes of play.

Fullerton by six over Irvine

In a high-scoring Orange County matchup, host Cal State Fullerton outlasted UC Irvine 100-94. Will Davis scored 20 points and garnered six boards while Chris McNealy scored 20 for the Anteaters. But Titan D.J. Seeley busted out for 27 markers, six rebounds and four assists, backed by 24 from Kwame Vaughn who also nabbed seven caroms. Both squads shot 54% for the game.

Host Irvine fell 72-64 to Pacific despite 10 points, six boards and two blocked shots by Will Davis plus 10 points and five rebounds from Chris McNealy.

It was host Cal Irvine 65 to UC Riverside's 57 tonight as Will Davis produced eight rebounds and seven points in 24 minutes plus Mike Best scored seven in 12 minutes of action, each for Irvine.

Irvine just didn't have enough, falling to Big West power Long Beach State 74-60. Chris McNealy totaled 12 points and five rebounds, Will Davis seven points, four boards and three blocks and Mike Best contributed two points plus four rebounds in 14 minutes.
