Former Sheldon High big Ramon Eaton has indeed transferred from Pepperdine to New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) -- he is listed on the 2012-13 Thunderbird roster.
What makes this even more interesting is that the NMJC coach -- theoretically 'the' reason for coming to a school -- moved on to the Texas Christian staff in late July. But Thunderbird assistant James Miller has taken over heading the program.
Anyone have any idea why Eaton is in the Land of Enchantment and not at a California community college? He is listed as a forward as the team has three post players, measuring 6-foot-7, 6-foot-8 and 6-foot-10. Maybe that was a factor is his decision.
Here's hoping he does well.
