Patience, more often than not, is a virtue.
James Hadnot is utilizing the wisdom behind that adage, plus a full ride scholarship, in order to parlay a year's time into an attractive offer come the 2014-15 basketball season.
The 6-foot-7 Sacramento High graduate and Oakland Rebel is headed to Ranger College, in Ranger, Texas, a town of 2,500 in the northern central part of the state. 30-year coaching veteran Jimmy Voight is the new head of the program, a member of the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Association. Teams compete for the regional title and the right to move on to Hutchinson, Kansas for the national junior college tournament.
Community colleges in New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah were also in play for Hadnot.
An All Metro League selection after averagiong 10.7 points and 6.9 rebounds, Hadnot decided on Ranger because "they send guys to the next level and can best prepare me for DI." School starts for him on August 21. Colorado is showing interest.
Asked what Ranger fans can expect of him this coming season, Hadnot replied, "Someone who plays team ball and who like to get out and score." He's expecting to be positioned at the four spot.
