Nelson to play for Croy

Former El Cerrito High and Merritt College talent Eric Nelson is going to be playing for former St. Mary's assistant Rick Croy, who has taken over at Cal Baptist in Riverside.

From Croy:
Nelson comes to CBU after helping to lead Merritt College on a run to the state Final Four last season. Nelson was the second leading scorer on the team, averaging 11.5 points per game on 59.8 percent shooting in helping Merritt to the deepest tournament run in school history. He also grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game and averaged 3.1 blocks en route to All-Big Valley Conference first team honors and was selected to the All-State Tournament Team as well.

“Eric is a special person who will add a great deal to the CBU community,” said Croy. “The CBU family will love watching him compete on the floor and interacting with him off of it. We cannot wait to coach Eric.”
Michael Smith, out of El Camino High in South San Francisco, is also a Lancer.
