A teachable moment

This one involves UTEP junior McKenzie Moore, formerly of College Park High:
"...UTEP will play without 6-foot-6 guard McKenzie Moore tonight. Moore, who has been practicing with the team, is being disciplined for a lapse in the Sacramento State game. He will again be in game uniform Thursday night when the Miners take on Northwestern State in the Haskins Center..."
and
",,,Coach Tim Floyd was mostly happy with his team, but did announce a one-game benching of his leading scorer McKenzie Moore, who also led the team in scoring this game with 14 points.

"We're going to be playing without McKenzie" Dec. 16 against New Orleans, Floyd said. "I didn't like his actions on the floor. He needs to learn to handle the little bit of success he's had, he needs to learn to defer, be a better teammate. I'll see if I can watch some growth, some more appreciation for wearing a Miner uniform."

Moore was in the game until Floyd called a timeout with 5:16 to play and lectured him on the bench...
"
Moore possesses the most promise on the team vis-a-vis the NBA. He's already doing it in the classroom -- "Named to the 2013 Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll (minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average) ... also chosen to the 2013 C-USA Men's Basketball All-Academic Team." So hopefully he'll get back on board regarding the full spectrum of his court responsibilities.
