* College of the Redwoods 88 - New Hope 67
From College of the Redwoods athletics: College of the Redwoods had five players score in double figures and a strong second half propelled the Corsairs to an easy 88-67 win against New Hope University at the Lane Tournament in Eugene, Ore. on Sunday.

The Corsairs (8-4), who took two of three games at the tournament, were led in scoring by sophomore Justin Heidrick on Sunday, who scored a game-high 16 points, starting in place of an injured Mitchell Hash.

“Mitchell sprained his ankle last night and was out today but Justin really stepped in and played great,” said CR head coach Justin Mora. “And he did it on both ends too. We also had him guarding their best shooter and he held him to 10. He really had a great game for us.”

CR’s James Slade and Johnny Shelton each had 15 points, while Jon Losa finished with 14 and Brandon Rogers had 12.

Redwoods led 39-31 at halftime and outscored New Hope 49-36 in the second half. “It was a total team effort today,” Mora said. “We got a lot of guys in and I thought we really played well. It was great to get two of three wins here and I thought Shelton really played outstanding for us this whole weekend. The kids are confident right now and we’re getting better every day.”
