Alioto departing Palma basketball

From John Devine:
After a decade at Palma, Paul Alioto has stepped down as the schools basketball coach.
 Surprised?
 Not really.
Alioto, an off-campus coach, has a young family with time restraints with a new job.
Perhaps a break was necessary for Alioto, who has coached for 21 years, including pit stops as an assistant at Hawaii-Hilo and CSUMB.
But what a run for Alioto, who won 190 games in 10 years at Palma, taking the program to the CCS Division IV semifinals nine straight years.
Palma won the CCS title in 2007, reaching the State Northern California Division IV quarterfinals.
Prior to Alioto's arrival, the Chieftains were coming off a 7-17 season.
Palma won 20 or more games four times during the Alioto era, including a 27-3 season in 2007, the second best record in school history.
A Devine tweet: "Palma basketball coach Paul Alioto said what led to his decision to step down was he wasn't chomping at the bit to get back in the gym."
