Hayes to roar with the Lions

Freshman Santa Rosa JC backcourter Matt Hayes has given a verbal commitment to Loyola Marymount of the West Coast Conference. He was a First Team All State honoree this past season.

Come conference play, the 6-foot-1 guard will now be facing former teammates Alec Kobre who has signed with Pacific and Bobby Sharp who will be a senior at Portland.

Whether this made an indelible impression or not, Hayes totaled 22 points (4-7 from three-point range) on March 5 in a victory against Ohlone College, which was coached then by John Peterson, now an LMU assistant.

The Lions have also signed a freshman point from the Slovak Republic and a JC wing transfer originally hailing from Australia so they are heavily investing in outside talents.
