Caught some of the play Saturday at the City Championship Seventh Annual Elite 17U and 16U Boys' Basketball Tournament held at City College of San Francisco. In a visit of a few hours, here's who generated interest:
* Trevor Dunbar was running with the Nor Cal Warriors and was easily the best passing, penetrate-and-kick guy out there. He sees the floor well and puts the ball in the hands of teammates where they can do damage.
* Stanley Watson of the Nor Cal Warriors was a new name. A 2014 prospect out of Fremont High, he stands 6-foot-9 but needs to add strength to his slim frame and reps in working on skills sets. Looks like a prime prospect for a couple of seasons of development at a community college.
* 6-foot-4 Hyram Miskin of Seaside Select, San Benito High and the 2014 class displayed consistent sharpshooting skills. A First Team Monterey Bay Gabilan honoree, it's not difficult to see him performing a role on a community college basketball team if he wishes to continue playing.
* Jordan Bramlett of the West Valley Basketball Club and King's Academy is a 2015 talent at the point. He displayed solid ballhandling skills and the ability to get his own shot.
* 6-foot-5 Jamaryion Simmons is going to be one to watch at College of Marin. He needs to drop some pounds and get toned up but his bulk and strength plays well at the offensive end.
Overall, still way too much over-penetrating took place, with wild shot attempts or efforts that would be rejected against opponents of larger size levels. Did see one jump stop though!!!
