Scarver heading north

Out of Tracy, prep backcourter Derritt Scarver has signed with the Alaska Nanooks:
Scarver, a 6-foot-2-inch guard, will come to the Nanooks from Millennium High School in Tracy, Calif. He was a two-time All-Central California Athletic Alliance player for the Falcons and averaged 17 points, six rebounds and four assists per game.

"We're really excited to have Derritt join our program," said Durham. "He's a young shooting guard in our program that I think has a chance to be very good on both ends. He kind of has a scoring mentality, but yet I think he's going to be a very, very good defensive player when it's all said and done."

Scarver will also bring academic and extra-curricular experience to the Nanooks. He twice made the Millennium High School Honor Roll while also accumulating over 200 hours of community service time doing a variety of activities including feeding the homeless, working elementary school basketball games, and working with troubled youth at the Tracy Boys and Girls Club.
