Wow -- BOD versus Bishop Gorman

It's a ways off but a spectacular matchup is highlighting Gerry Freitas' Nor Cal Tip Off Classic.

The eighth annual Nor Cal Tip Off Classic will be held Saturday November 29, 2014 at Newark Memorial High School in Newark.

The event is designed to promote/showcase Northern California basketball to college coaches, media/scouts and the general public.

There will be seven games on the day beginning at 11:00 a.m. tThe schedule is below) High profile programs such as Newark Memorial of Newark, Modesto Christian, Moreau Catholic of Hayward, St. Mary’s of Stockton and St. Joseph's-Notre Dame of Alameda will be featured. The event will culminate with the marquee matchup at 8:30 pm between national powers Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland and Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas..

O’Dowd is lead by 6’9 forward Ivan Rabb who is ranked #1 nationally in the 2015 class by ESPN. Gorman is lead by 7'0 forward/center Stephen Zimmerman who is ranked #4 nationally in 2015 by ESPN and 6'9 forward/center Chase Jeter who is ranked #35 in the ESPN top 60 rankings for 2015.

Other elite prospects include 6’6 2016 wing Oscar Frayer and 6’2 2017 guard Dimari Milstead of Moreau Catholic.

Five Northern California 2014 state finalist teams are participating in the event: Bishop O'Dowd (Open Division), Folsom (Division II), Drake (Division III), Moreau Catholic (Division IV) and St. Joseph's-Notre Dame (Division V).
