From the Visalia Times comes College of the Sequoias Coach Rusty Smith's recruiting haul:
Coach Rusty Smith and the College of the Sequoias coaching staff have been hard at work recruiting for next season's team since their season ended a few months ago.
Their work is beginning to pay off and their roster is beginning to finalize for next season. Here is a list of commitments that pledged to come to COS next school year:
• Kentry Bynum, El Diamante: A 6-foot-4 wing, he was an all-West Yosemite League selection and is the younger brother of current COS basketball player Brantley Bynum.
• Sam Tensley, El Diamante: A 5-foot-10 point guard, he is also an all-West Yosemite League player and helped lead the Miners to a playoff berth last season.
• Fatai Eke, East-Bakersfield: A 6-foot-8 power forward, Eke is a highly recruited player who has received much interest from four-year universities from all over the west coast. Known for his defense and athleticism on the court, Eke plans on majoring in either sports medicine or physical therapy while at COS.
• Jordan Bayne, Exeter: A 6-foot-4 wing, who won a Central Section title in 2013, he was an all-Central Sequoia League selection in 2014.
• Derek Check, Centennial: The 6-foot-3 guard can play point guard or shooting guard. He averaged over 15 points per game as senior and was an all-Southwest Yosemite League selection.
• Elray Coleman, West-Bakersfield: A 6-foot-1 shooting guard, he is known for his 3-point shooting and athleticism. He was the South Yosemite League MVP this past season, averaging 20.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
