William Jessup University's men's basketball coach Lance Von Vogt announced the signing to Chris Murry to the 2014 recruiting class.
Murry,
a 5'11 guard, transfers to the Warriors from West Valley College. The
Fremont native averaged 16.3 points, 4.4 assist and 3.5 rebounds while
shooting 40% from the three-point line in his two seasons for the
Vikings. He was twice named to the California Junior College All-State
2nd team and South Bay All-Conference team. West Coast Hoops tabbed
Murry as one of the top 100 junior college players on the West Coast.
In
high school, Murry starred at Kennedy High School in Fremont. He
averaged 19.0 points and 3.2 assist in his senior season. With his
stellar play, he was a two-time All-Mission Valley Conference team
member.
Murry stated: "It's an honor to join the Warriors
program. Coach Von Vogt and Coach Hernandez have given me the
opportunity I need to become a better Christian, earn my degree and play
the game I love. I look forward to representing the Warriors on and
off the court."
Coach Von Vogt stated: "Chris has shown himself to
be an outstanding young man both on and off the basketball court. His
ability to shoot, pass, handle and defend will shore up gaps on the
perimeter for us over the next two seasons. Coach Eitelgeorge at West
Valley did a terrific job of developing Chris so that he will be able to
step on campus and make an instant impact for us in a positive way. Chris is a complete guard capable of playing both ends of the court
while also excelling in transition. I am very excited to welcome him to
our William Jessup Warrior basketball family."
