McKinney honored

Sacramento State’s Mikh McKinney has been selected as the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week.

McKinney, a 6-foot-1 senior guard from Union City, CA, averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 steals, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game, helping the Hornets to a 1-1 record. McKinney shot .600 percent from the field and made all nine of his free throws. He also played 37.5 minutes per game.

In an 80-75 loss to Portland on Sunday, McKinney scored 32 points with eight assists, seven steals and seven rebounds. He made 13-of-21 shots from the floor and five free throws. He set career-highs for points and steals in a game. Late in the contest, he became the 13th player in school history to score his 1000th career point.

In a 73-59 win over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, McKinney scored 21 points with six steals, three assists and a rebound. McKinney made 8-of- 14 shots from the floor, and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

This is McKinney’s third career Player of the Week honor.
