"It has been a stellar season for the Marysville High boys basketball team, but Monday night's regular season finale at Lesta Joubert Gymnasium fell flat.

The Indians dropped their final Golden Empire League contest 59-55 to West Campus and finished tied for second in the GEL standing with the Warriors.
Capital Christian won its fourth straight league title with a perfect 12-0 mark.

"We've been playing like a team all season, but tonight we were playing selfishly," said Marysville coach Stan Easter. "I could have done a better job coaching tonight, too."

Senior Erik Scheive had another strong performance with 23 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks. Marysville completed the regular season with a 24-3 overall record and 9-3 mark in the GEL."

* Santa Cruz Sentinel:

"At St. Francis 69, Scotts Valley 54 - Cooper Scherr led with 24 points to push No. 3 St. Francis past No. 6 Scotts Valley and into the next round of the SCCAL tournament.

Nick Wempe followed with 13 points — 10 of which came in the third quarter — to put the Sharks ahead after going down 35-30 at the half. Sandor Rene Rodriguez added 11 points for St. Francis (22-3), which faces No. 2 Santa Cruz in the semifinals at Scotts Valley High on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Alec Vucinich led scoring for the Falcons with 19 points, while Tanner Spence posted 17 and Joseph Espinola scored 11.

At SLV 64, Harbor 55 - Nick Salibi posted 18 points to lead the No. 4 Cougars past No. 5 Harbor in the first round of the SCCAL tournament.

Derek McCuiston followed with 14 points, Davon Northcutt added 12 and Jackson Turner scored 10 for SLV (12-12), which faces No. 1 Aptos at Scotts Valley High on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Josh Bernard led Harbor with 23 points while Deane Rinaldi added 15 points for the Pirates (7-17)."
