1Team1Dream 17 Elite

Modesto Junior College Assistant Coach Jordan Jones has co-started the AAU basketball team, 1Team1Dream 17 Elite, composed of sophomores and juniors. He will be co-head coach as well as Brice Fantazia, a former professional basketball player and current Modesto Christian Assistant Coach.

Last weekend, "our team, which only has 2016/2017 players, won our pool play which moved us on to the elite platinum bracket where we eventually lost in the semifinals to the Lakeshow 17 Elite who ended up beating the EYBL Soldiers in the championship," Jones offered. "We finished 3-1 and will be heading to Anaheim this weekend."

According to Jones, "our guys want to get better in practice and the games are a test. We're heavy with guards so we usually have Josthin [Dawkins] and Nico [Rojas] playing the four and five with our guards."

He added, "this is something Modesto needed. We went out and got local sponsors for kids which will cover travel costs, hotels, transportation and tournament fees."

Jones' involvement in coaching basketball is close to hereditary. "I grew up around the game in a small town north of Boise. My father was a high school varsity coach for nearly 20 years before he became an assistant then head coach at a junior college in Oregon." In fact, his parents have video of a three-year-old Jones with a whistle around his neck and a ball in his hands answering his parents' question of what did he wanted to be when he grew up with "a coach."

He attended Treasure Valley Community College in Oregon before graduated with a degree in Sports Management from Culver-Stockton College in Missouri. Very soon after, he earned a Master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. With a year as the video coordinator with the UC Davis men's basketball team, he moved over to another season as an assistant coach at Chico State, a year in which the Wildcats finished 25-8 and reached the DII Elite Eight. He now teaches as an Adjunct Instructor at Modesto Junior College in addition to his basketball duties.

Fantazia grew up in Turlock, played as a senior at Modesto Christian High where he was part of a California State Championship team. Then, it was College of the Sequoias/Treasure Valley CC followed by also graduating from Culver-Stockton. While there, he finished his senior season ranked #3 in the nation in the assists category. Fantazia then played four years abroad in Portugal and the UK -- FC Porto and the Glasgow Rocks respectively -- and now is an assistant at his high school alma mater.
