More on Jonathan James returning to CRC

Jonathan James is an alumnus of Cosumnes River College and played for Hall of Fame head coach James Clark. After graduating from CRC, Jonathan continued his athletic career at the University of West Georgia under Hall of Fame coach Ed Murphy. Coach James went on to play professional basketball overseas, earning contracts in Ireland and Australia.

Jonathan James has spent nine seasons as a basketball coach and this last year was with the Las Positas College men's basketball coaching staff. He previously served as an assistant coach at Cosumnes River College from 2011-15 with former Cosumnes River College head coach, James Giacomazzi.

During James' tenure as an Assistant Coach, specializing in post player development, he has helped seven players sign athletic scholarships, two at the Division 1 level. In his first season as an assistant coach (2011-12), Cosumnes River reached the CCCAA Sweet Sixteen. Prior to joining the Cosumnes River College staff, Coach James served as head junior varsity coach at Valley High School (his alma mater) and Pleasant Grove High School, where he also served as a varsity assistant coach.

Coach James is the founder of MyLaces Skill Development Association. MyLaces has aided in the development of young athletes both mentally and physically, providing them with the knowledge and fundamental training to maximize their athletic potential while emphasizing academics, nutrition, and model citizenship throughout their communities.

Jonathan is dedicated to student success and "wants to give back to the students who are where he was not so long ago".

Coach James currently resides in West Sacramento and will finish his master's degree in exercise science in July from the California University of Pennsylvania.

We welcome Jonathan back to our CRC Hawk family."
