"Western Oregon head coach Jim Shaw announced the addition of Ali Faruq-Bey...Faruq-Bey is from Idaho State University and...will be eligible to play immediately for the Wolves in the 2016-17 season.
A 6-2 guard, Faruq-Bey averaged 13.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game last season for Idaho State. Before his time at Idaho State, the Bay Area native played a year at Arizona Western, where he averaged over 16 points per game while pulling down four rebounds, helping on two assists, and swiping one steal. He earned first team all-ACCAC honors in his one year at AWCC.
Shaw had the following comments about Faruq-Bey: "Ali is a talented young man. He plays with a lot of energy at both ends of the court. He has the versatility to defend all three positions on the perimeter and is a good scorer as well. Ali is a well-rounded guard."
