Basketball Adds Khela To 2016 Recruiting Class

"GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines men's basketball has added Sacramento, California shooting guard Monty Khela to its recruiting class for 2016...

...Khela, a product of West Campus High School in Sacramento, will come to Golden after leading the Warriors to an historic season with a league-best 17.3 points per game.

"Monty was a late get for us, but has very good credentials," said head coach Pryor Orser. "He is a very tough-minded player who loves to compete and play the game. He is also a skilled passer and decision maker, as well as a good shooter with a good drive game. He really is a great fit with our current recruiting class as he is a perfect 3 guard. We look forward to coaching Monty here at Mines."

The 6-4, 195-pound Khela scored in buckets and also posted 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game leading West Campus to the best record in program history (29-6) and their first Northern California and section titles last winter. An all-league, all-metro, and academic all-league selection, Khela played AAU for Norcal Pharoahs in Sacramento, averaging 19.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He was an Academic Honor Roll student and three-year scholar-athlete with a 4.0 GPA."
