The newcomers to the Foothill College team

Foothill Coach Matt Stanley has five new recruits coming in for the 2016-17 season as well as seven redshirts/grayshirts returning.

* Alex Gil – 6’4” – Gunn High School – 1st Team San Jose Mercury News – SCVAL De Anza Division MVP - Alex averaged 19.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He is an extremely versatile player who will be able to impact the game in all areas on offense and on defense.

* Austin Bice – 6’4” – Oak Grove High School – 1st Team BVAL – Honorable Mention San Jose Mercury News - Austin averaged 12.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game at Oak Grove.  He is a great rebounder and defender and he is adding to his perimeter game.

* DeAngelo Blackwell – 6’3” – Homestead High School – 1st Team SCVAL El Camino - He has the ability to score at all three levels.  His size and length is going to help make him a lock down defender.

* Nick Murtha – 5’9” – Leland High School – 2015 2nd Team BVAL - Nick had a successful junior year at Leland High School before being diagnosed with cancer going into his senior year.  He is healthy and gradually gaining back his strength, agility and skill.

* Matthew Blaney – 6’5” – Mission Prep High School San Luis Obispo – 2nd Team PAC 8 – 2nd Team All County - Matthew averaged 11 points and 4 assists a game.  Foothill is very excited to have him because he has more to share with the team than a great outside shot and vertical.
