More on Omar Samhan

Selfishly, we can't eait for Omar Samhan's professional basketball playing career to conclude because we want to see him behind a mike at TNT or ESPN. He's already that good.

Here's the latest on Omar, who is playing this summer for Dallas:

From Kevin Arnovitz at ESPN: Omar Samhan: "After the draft, I felt like I was drowning, and I was really upset," Saint Mary's big man said about not hearing his name called on June 24. "Dallas feels like a life vest for me." A quick glimpse at John Hollinger's Draft Rater suggests that Samhan might have the skills to play NBA ball."

Here is David Thorpe on Samhan: "The thing I like best is that he's emotionally engaged in the game. Everything means something to him -- his teammates, how they're playing, how he's playing. He's invested in the game -- but not just how he's doing. We all knew he had scoring talent and good hands, but unless he can improve his athleticism, it's going to be hard for him to show those skills on a nightly basis."

Here's a recent Mercury News article on Samhan.
