The Good, the Bad, the Ugly Report

Here it is: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly Report

The STUDENT ATHLETE CAMP REPORT is free to all college coaches and scouts. It is a breakdown of the attending talent at the
NorCal Regional Showcase Camp held at Antioch Community Center (Antioch, Ca) on October 20.

The event featured college scholarship hopefuls from the East Bay, South Bay Area, Central Valley, Peninsula and Sacramento areas.
The diversity of the talent present had camp staff excited about the strides forward basketball is making in these areas. The reaffirmation that athletes come in different shapes, skills and sizes but the dream of a scholarship is the same. While this is a recap of the camp, please keep in mind that this is a very early look at most of these prospects who have room for future growth and are all far from finished prospects

Listed below are the Top 10 upperclassmen selections plus top freshmen and sophomore prospects (listed alphabetically):

* Druce Asah / Jr / Tracy HS 6'2  2015

Quick and shifty combo is a tough match-up for opposing defenders. Asah has an excellent
jump shot to go along with a quick first step. Asah had very little trouble getting to the basket or creating space for his jumper. As his basketball IQ develops he will become a bigger threat as his toughness and athleticism allowed him to standout all event long.

* Shon Briggs / Sr / Heritage HS 6'6 2014

Skilled forward who was a force around the glass and on the arc. Briggs did what he wanted to throughout the camp. He flourished when he operated from 15 feet and in then turned it up to show his perimeter game. A solid shooter who hit three point shot after three point shot or put it on the floor to the basket. Briggs had the presence of forward but played like a guard. Defensively, Briggs brought an intense and physical game to each opponent. As a rebounder, Briggs consistently boarded on both sides of the court which started fast break plays or created second chance baskets.

* Jovian Cormier / Jr / Heritage HS  6'1  2015

Excellent combo guard who is a good athlete with nice all-around skills. He is a good handler and a good passer who pulls up real well in transition. He is a solid mid range shooter and a determined driver. He also shows the ability to rebound from the guard position. He is confident with his shot and played solid man and team defense.

* DeJante Kennedy / Sr / Pittsburg HS  2014

Strong combo guard who is a good athlete with nice all-around skills. Kennedy is a finisher who stays active around the basket and plays real well in transition. He is a confident defender who can defend all five positions. He also shows the ability to rebound at both sides of the floor.

* Eric Morgan / Sr / St Francis HS 6'5 2014

Long small forward runs floor extremely well and is very quick off his feet which makes him a legitimate shot blocker and rebounder. Morgan finds ways to get on the scoreboard with hustle during transition plays and an above average ability to hit mid range and three point shots.

* Liam O'Rielly / Sr / Sacred Heart HS 6'5 2014

A strong and physical forward who gets after it on the glass. O'Reilly has solid post up skills and he can operate surprisingly well 12 to 15 feet away from the basket. His physical presences got the attention of scouts and opponents as he attacked intensely like a DE going after a QB as he defended the basket.

* Deondre Otis / Sr / Sacred Heart HS 5'11 2014

Hard-working floor general has excellent court instincts and ability to penetrate defenses to get to the basket and score. Extremely quick off the dribble and his lethal first-step allows him to beat defenders off the bounce with regularity. He continually got into the lanes and found open teammates and kept the crowd in awe. Otis also has an outside stroke that must be respected. Otis played a physical brand of defense and confidently took on bigger opponents.

* Rodney Pope Jr / Sr / Freedom HS) 5'11 2014

Exciting playmaking prospect that has a strong feel for the game. Pope knows how to run a team, as his decision-making was superb and while his offensive game kept his man close. A pass first pg that teammates enjoyed playing with as he looked to distribute to the open man and finished well when play dictated it. As he develops in size and strength he will grow as a force on the floor. As a defender, Pope easily locked up his man and had several  steals that lead to easy baskets.

* Jordan Roberson / Jr / Rancho Cordova HS 6'4 2015

Athletic guard who shot the deep ball well but a little too much in the early games, but was able to get to the basket whenever he decided to drive. Roberson has solid ball handling skills, and once he picked up the intensity he was a tough match up. Roberson has the ability to play the 1 and 2 which makes his potential great as a D1 game changer very interesting.

* Logan Rodgers / Jr / Liberty HS 6'5 2015

Very effective rebounder,  athletic, good shot blocker, finishes around the rim, showed good and ability to make mid-range jumper. As his IQ, ball handling, and low post skills improve, his prospect stock will begin to rise.

* Daniel Rosenbaum / Jr / Los Altos HS 6'3 2015

Hard-working guard who showed a variety of skill sets during the course of the camp. He shot the deep ball very well, hit his mid range shots, and finished strong on the break. Rosenbaum played with a lot of confidence as he routinely pulled up for jumper's both in transition and in the half court when given any space. Very solid defender with the ability to play inside and out.

Upper Classmen (Best of the Rest):

* Myles Wise / Jr / Liberty HS 5'9 2015

* Anthony Leslie / Jr / Liberty HS 2015

* Adrian Rico / Jr / Berkeley HS 5'9 2015

* Elliott Smith / Sr / Freedom HS 6'6 2014

Top Sophomore: Micah Elan / Lick-Wilmerding HS 2016

Micah Elan is a good ball handler with tremendous court vision. He can penetrate and get to the basket and finish with both hands. He is a good defender, rebounder, and unselfish player. He has an all-around game and there is nothing that he can't do on a basketball court. He also has a great attitude and he is very coachable.

Top Freshman: Zachaeus Wallace / Dosier Libbey Medical Academy 2017

Wallace has very good size and is athletic for a post player. He rebounds and defends the post very well and can block shots and protect the paint.
