This one proved to be a great matchup on Saturday, one that required an overtime period, as San Diego State edged Utah State 74-69. In what should cinch another Player of the Week award, guard Xavier Thames scored 31 points for the Aztecs and also found the time to pass for five assists. For the Aggies, Spencer Butterfield just missed a double-double with 19 points and eight boards.
It was another game in which San Diego State was out-shot (53% to 42%) but still triumphed.
