Slocum important for the Nanooks

Here's Alaska Nanook Coach Mich Dunham talking about his senior captain:

Coach Durham is presenting a young team after graduating six seniors four of which were starters from last year's veteran squad. This season's lone returning starter is senior point guard Joe Slocum

Slocum, averaged 10.4 points per game last season. He also ranked second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in steals (2.0) and fifth in assists (4.1), both team bests. The starting point guard was unanimously selected to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason All-Conference team.

Stated Durham, "Joe's in a unique situation where last year he was the only new guy with a bunch of returning players and now he's with an entirely new cast. But he has been great. His attitude is exactly what you want as a coach; he's our leader."

"He's determined to have a good senior year," continued the head coach. "I've seen him grow in his game and I hope he has an All-GNAC season."
