It's a slam dunk: hire Nicholas Podesta

So Coach James Giacomazzi is heading back to his Bay Area roots, what comes next for Cosumnes River College basketball?

Well, if interim CRC President Whitney Yamamura and Athletic Director Liz Belyea are learned individuals  -- both hold Master's degrees so they undoubtedly qualify -- fifth-year assistant Nicholas Podesta will be elevated to the head coach position.

A snippet from his biography provides his qualifications: "...Coach Podesta serves as the men’s basketball program’s recruiting coordinator while also assisting with academic planning, advance scouting, compliance, on-floor coaching, player personnel, statistical analysis, as well as day-to-day basketball operations responsibilities. He also co-teaches the program’s off-season basketball curriculum, in addition to assisting with camp administration..."

In addition, Podesta holds a Master's of Science degree, has also worked as the CRC Sports Information Officer and coached CRC men's tennis.

He has ample support from coaches throughout the four-year, two-year, high school and AAU ranks in the Sacramento area and beyond.

Podesta will have the best interests of the program and players foremost while having his student-athletes competing with spirit and integrity.

Just do it.
