Here's a feature blowing up the usual thinking that your next D1 coach should either have D1 head coaching experience or be a D1 assistant.
My takes:
What coach hiring firm is going to recommend a DII or DIII candidate? Or make that: what coaching-finding firm will soon go out of business after backing a DII or DIII mentor who doesn't make it?
If I'm a college president (okay, you can stop laughing now), my AD is in trouble if he/she comes to me wanting to hire a coaching-finding firm to fill a vacancy. That's part of the job of an AD and shouldn't require a $40,000 additional hit from the budget.
