At home on Friday, Las Positas College posted an 84-67 win against Ohlone College.
LPC athletics: "Keith Hunter scored a game-high 28 points Friday night to lead the Hawks to an 84-67 Coast Conference North Division victory over visiting Ohlone.
LPC's second straight victory after two losses improved its overall record to 15-7, but more importantly, it allowed the Hawks to maintain their second-place tie with Chabot in the conference standings. Both teams are 5-2, two games behind unbeaten City College of San Francisco.
The game also marked the first time the Hawks have completed a season sweep of Ohlone (8-14, 1-6).
Hunter scored 17 of his points in the first half, which ended with LPC--ranked #19 in the state and #9 in Northern California--ahead 42-39. Unlike Wednesday night when the Hawks looked flat at the beginning of the second half against Skyline, they emerged energetically against Ohlone.
LPC scored the first 6 points of half to go up by 9, then three minutes later with the score 52-44, the Hawks ran off 8 consecutive points to build a 58-44 lead. During that run, Brandon Eboigbodin scored on a rebound basket and made two free throws, and Hunter connected on a layup and a deep jumper.
With the score 65-54, Ellis Salahuddin, who came off the bench to score 9 points in the first half, hit two foul shots before banking in a three-pointer to make it 70-54 with 6:40 remaining. Ohlone then went on a 7-0 run to stay in contention, but Hunter splashed a three from the left corner to kill the Renegades' momentum.
After an Ohlone bucket, the Hawks put the game away when Hunter scored off a lob from McKayle Harnell, Eboigbodin scored inside off a dish from Cameron Moses, and Eboigbodin made 1 of 2 free throws for a 78-63 advantage with 2:33 left.
Salahuddin and Moses finished with 14 points each, Eboigbodin added 12, and Kameron Johnson had 10."
