It was Las Positas College nabbing another victory yesterday 95-84 over Skyline College.
LPC Basketball: "LPC blew a 17-point first half lead, but fought hard down the stretch Wednesday night to defeat Skyline 95-84 in Livermore.
The critical victory snapped a two-game losing streak and kept the Hawks (14-7 overall, ranked #19 in the state and #9 in Northern California) within striking distance of Coast Conference North Division leader City College of San Francisco (6-0). With half of the conference season completed, LPC sits in second place, tied with Chabot at 4-2.
Cameron Moses led the Hawks in scoring against Skyline (6-13, 2-4) with 26 points, while Kameron Johnson added 23, Brandon Eboigbodin had 20, and Keith Hunter had 16.
LPC built its 17-point lead late in the first half before settling for a 50-38 halftime advantage. The Hawks emerged passively from the locker room and allowed Skyline to score the first 8 points of the second half to move within 50-46.
The Trojans eventually tied the score at 58-58, then took their first lead since early in the game at 66-64 with 10:31 left. The score was knotted at 71-71 two minutes later before the game’s pivotal sequence.
While holding Skyline scoreless over the next four minutes, Johnson nailed a three, Moses followed in his own miss, Eboigbodin followed in his miss, Johnson hit another jumper, and Moses made a layup for an 11-0 spurt and an 82-71 lead.
The teams traded two buckets each before Moses hit a short jumper, and Aaron Berry scored on a follow basket, making it 89-75 with 2:04 remaining and essentially putting the game away."
