"East Bay Adds Juwan Anderson to 2016-17 Team"

"Cal State East Bay head men's basketball coach Gus Argenal has announced that Nevada guard and Bishop O'Dowd product Juwan Anderson will join the Pioneers for the 2016-17 season.

"We are incredibly excited to add a person, student, and player like Juwan Anderson," said Argenal. He embodies everything we want East Bay basketball to stand for and is a total winner."

Anderson transfers to East Bay from Division I Nevada-Reno where he spent the 2015-16 season as a true freshman. In his rookie year with the Wolf Pack, Anderson played in 23 games and had better than a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

A native of Oakland, Calif., he spent 2014-15 at Suffield Academy in Connecticut, earning first-team All-New England Class A honors with per game averages of 15.4 points, 5.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 steals. His team posted a 15-7 record and reached the New England Class A Finals.

As a prep student at Bishop O'Dowd High School, Anderson led his team to a North Coast Section championship as well as a CIF Northern California championship. He averaged 15 points and seven assists per game and earned First Team All-Hayward League honors.

"Juwan played for one of the best high school programs in the state at Bishop O'Dowd for coach Lou Richie and his staff," Argenal added. "They are not only some of the best coaches around, but also tremendous mentors. We hope Juwan can help us achieve the same type of success he had while playing for the Dragons."

Anderson will join the Pioneers as a sophomore when the 2016-17 campaign commences."
