More on Coach Peterson's move to Shoot 360
"Loyola Marymount University Associate Head Coach John Peterson is leaving his position after two seasons with the Lions. Peterson, who just completed his 24th season on the collegiate level, came to LMU after serving 14 years as head coach at Ohlone College, one of the top junior college basketball programs in California. A 2015 inductee into the California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Peterson has accepted a job with Vancouver, Washington based Shoot 360, a high tech basketball training company. As a head coach at Ohlone Junior College, Peterson amassed a 300 – 126 record giving him a 71% career win percentage. Peterson left Ohlone as the all-time leader in wins, win percentage, conference titles (5), winning seasons (14), most wins in a season (28), and 20-win seasons (11).
Peterson was a five-time Coast Conference North Coach of the Year and his teams participated in the playoffs in 13 of his 14 years including two appearances in the Elite 8. He finished ranked in the top 20 in 13 of his 14 seasons. Prior to Ohlone College Peterson spent three years (1997-00) and NCAA Division II Power Metro State College in Denver, CO. Metro went 87 – 15, won a National Championship in 2000, was National Runner-up, and won three league titles. Peterson has also garnered international experience where he served as the head coach for Netscouts Basketball China Tour playing in an International Tournament and winning all nine games he coached. Peterson also has extensive experience in the basketball camp business where he founded his own business.
Peterson will serve as the California Regional Manager for Shoot 360 where he will open Shoot 360’s newest facility in Los Angeles. Shoot 360 currently operates facilities in Beaverton, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. They have recently announced plans to begin expanding across the U.S. through company owned facilities and franchising.
Shoot 360 is a high tech basketball training facility that develops and uses the most advanced technology in the world to teach shooting, ball handling, and performance training. Providing instantaneous feedback and performance statistics, Shoot 360 has developed the most sought after basketball training systems in the world. Recently they installed their first training system into a collegiate practice facility.
“We are elated to have Coach Peterson join the Shoot 360 team. Adding a coach of John’s caliber only solidifies our commitment to bringing in world class coaches and team members. John not only brings a wealth of coaching and teaching experience, he is also an innovator with an entrepreneurial spirit. He will be a tremendous addition to the Shoot 360 team,” said Founder and CEO Craig Moody.
“I have watched the metamorphous of Shoot 360 over the past couple of years and it is amazing how they are attacking basketball training and education. What most of us think of as the future is what they are doing right now. Their commitment to doing things the right way and to constantly innovating while keeping the core training and teaching fundamentals in place is leading the way and raising the bar for all levels of basketball,” said Peterson. “I am excited to be a part of something that has never been done before,” added Peterson.
Shoot 360 is scheduled to open their Los Angeles facility in late June or early July of 2016. More information can be found at www.shoot360.com or by emailing info@shoot360.com."
