The 2016-17 Las Positas College Hawks

Yes, Las Positas College Coach James Giacomazzi has a different roster for the fast-approaching season. Very different. Whereas last year when his tallest talent stood 6-foot-5, he now has a seven-footer plus two other frontcourt newcomers standing 6-foot-9 and 6-foot-8 respectively. Add in a handful of experienced returnees, plus redshirts, and the Hawks look formidable.

"We're definitely more versatile offensively and defensively and we'll tweak things according to our personnel," Giacomazzi said. "We're a month or two ahead of where we were at this time last year and there a good camaraderie on the team."

The top newcomers and returnees (alphabetical):

* Caleb Baskett, sophomore, 6-foot-2 (Saddleback College/Washington High-Fremont)

* Nicolas Evans, freshman, 5-foot-9 Holy Names transfer/Freedom High)

* Stokley Chaffee, sophomore, 6-foot-8 (USF transfer/Amador Valley High)

* Anand Hundal, freshman, 6-foot-9 (Manteca High)

* Keith Hunter, sophomore, 6-foot-3 (Oakland High) He produced 13.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists last season for the Hawks.

* Kameron Johnson, sophomore, 6-foot-2 (Granada High) He provided LPC with 12.4 points, 4.8 boards plus 3.4 assists as a freshman.

* Austin Medeiros, sophomore, 6-foot-1 (Chabot College/Livermore High)

* Donald Mims, 7-foot (formerly at Cosumnes River College)
