"Former University of the Pacific basketball player Alec Kobre has filed a lawsuit against the university alleging that school officials knowingly misled him while he was taking an online course needed for admission into the university and during a subsequent investigation into academic fraud.

Kobre, who graduated in May, was suspended for the first six games of the 2015-16 season by the university in wake of a joint investigation with the NCAA over allegations of academic fraud within athletics. Two other Pacific basketball players, Sami Eleraky, a returning senior, and Eric Thompson, who also graduated in May, also were suspended for portions of last season.

The suit, dated Aug. 10, was filed with the Superior Court of California, San Joaquin County. The allegations center on an online course Kobre took through the University of Idaho in summer 2014 to meet Pacific’s transfer requirements, which are higher than NCAA standards. Kobre transferred to Pacific from Santa Rosa Junior College in fall 2014 and played two seasons for the Tigers..."
