Hewitt, Colton, Bridgeland and Whitman

Sophomore Joey (Acalanes High) Hewitt is truly enjoying the ride this season as the 6-foot-1 Whitman College sophomore is a starting guard on an undefeated team. Yes, the Blues aren't feeling such and why should they in sporting a 31-0 record. Hewitt has contributed 13.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game plus 46 steals thus far.

In the tournament sectional final, "Butler missed two free throws following a Whitman stop, but Hewitt -- 6 feet, one inches of sophomore impertinence -- on the second ripped the rebound away from Rochester's frontcourt (6-10 and 6-7, respectively).

He was fouled.

He made both free throws for an 89-85 lead with 24.8 seconds left..."

6-foot-6 freshman wing Robert (Archbishop Riordan) Colton is also with Whitman and has played in 23 games this season at 6.7 minutes per outing. He is shooting 53% from the floor.

Whitman's Eric Bridgeland, who formerly coached at UC Santa Cruz, just received West District Coach of the Year honors due to the Blues powering through the Northwest Conference regular season and the conference tournament with that undefeated record.

Out of Walla Walla, WA, Whitman is in the NCAA DIII Final Four and face Babson College in Salem, West Virginia on March 17.
