UC Santa Cruz hoops

From UC Santa Cruz Coach Ron DuBois: "Slugs hoops season has wrapped up and we finished with a final record of 12-13. We played a tough national D3 schedule and had some historic wins over reputable NCAA tournament teams.

Recently we had five players (three of which are NorCal guys) who were named to the D3 All-Independent teams:

"Sophomore Will (Casa Grande High) Crain was named to the Association of Division III Independents Second-Team for this season in a vote of the Association's coaches.

The 6'6" center from Petaluma averaged 10.4 points 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists a game despite missing the middle third of the season. He led the team with 29 blocks and is now fourth on the school's career list.

Four Banana Slug players were named to the Third Team. They were junior point guard Adam Marlow, sophomore wing Ben (Aptos High) Dorfman, junior forward Kyle (Whitney High) Creighton and junior forward Tre Weston."

Corey (Half Moon Bay High) Cilia, who was our second leading scorer all season, just missed out on this recognition.

Sam (Vacaville High) Gabbard, who will be a junior next year, was a medical redshirt this season. In 2014-15, he was our captain, leading rebounder and received All-Independent honors.

Also, our point guard Adam Marlow was recognized as one of the top PG's in NCAA D3 a few weeks ago:

We have our top 11 players all returning next season. Definitely pumped to continue taking steps in the right direction. The last three seasons cap the best stretch of D3 success in school history!"

This team would have won 20+ games if Gabbard was available. They are playing some ball in Santa Cruz.
