Yuba College is a season-opening road loss to CCSF (by seven points) and a four-point dip versus North Idaho away from being undefeated. This, in a season where most didn't know what to expect from a 49er squad which has played but one home game.
This northern crew is led by a Big Three which itself is paced by 6-foot-8 Jihad (Vanden High) Woods, a sophomore who is averaging a double-double comprised of 18.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per contest. He is shooting 63.2% overall.
Next is 12.7 points from 6-foot-2 freshman Jaaron (Cosumnes Oaks High) Stallworth and 11.2 provided by 6-foot-10 sophomore Erick (Marysville High) Scheive who is accurate on 60% of his shots to date.
Intermittent scoring eruptions have come from a trio of sophomores: 6-foot-7 Jalen (River City High) Davis at 8.5 points, 7.7 via 5-foot-10 Jourdan (Central Catholic High) Johnson plus 7.3 points from 6-foot-6 Xavier (River City High)Francois.
Also, opponents are shooting less than 30 % on threes against the 49ers.
It's a mix that is obviously working well.
