It was the tale of two halves and Merritt owned a 10-point advantage after 20 minutes but Palomar put on a 42-24 blitz in the second session to win 70-62 Wednesday down in the Allan Hancock tournament.
It was also a battle of three-point shooting in which the victors shot 10-37 from long distance and the Thunderbird went 10-30.
For Merritt, freshman Thomas (Vanden High) Avent led with 16 points, Malik (Deer Valley High) Thompson tallied 16 and a team-best six boards with Tyrell (El Cerrito High) Alcorn scoring 13.
