The idea is a sound one, the one advanced by Chico Averbuck, the 1985 graduate of El Molino who has gone to become the director of international scouting for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the West Coast for that NBA team.
Averbuck will hold a 31-week basketball academy beginning in January, an eight-month program that does much more than teach kids how to dribble with both hands.
“It teaches life lessons,” Averbuck said. “And it is not a camp, where you come for three or four days and that’s it...”
