When the season began, Yuba College men's basketball coach Doug Cornelius must have thought his team was a little snake-bitten.

Cornelius was confident that this year's squad was set up to be his most talented one yet, however all he could do was shake his head in disbelief when four of his players went down with serious leg injuries during off-season workouts.

The biggest of all was to reigning Bay Valley Conference MVP Mike McChristian, who suffered a spiral fracture in his left ankle and was thought to be lost for the season.
