Merritt College traveled down to Aptos to battle Cabrillo College on Wednesday night but the hospitality wasn't of the Welcome Wagon variety. CC won 69-53 although Merritt atop by one, 30 to 29, at the half.
With 7:15 to go in the second 20 minutes, the Seahawks were ahead of the Thunderbirds 52-42. A Cabrillo zone resulted in a number of turnovers and less than solid looks at the basket for the Merritt, putting the game out of reach.
TBird Kareem Ransom hit a trio of treys (including an and1 variety) in totaling 12 points.
Thomas Pierce led Cabrillo with 16 points, earned through a variety of shots.
