Prospect analysis from the Nor Cal Summer Tip Off

Gerry Freitas is out with his player evaluations from action at last weekend's Nor Cal Summer Tip Off:

The fourth annual Nor Cal Summer Tip Off was held Saturday and Sunday July 13-14 at City College of San Francisco. Thirty nine teams participated. Here is a report on the event.

Top Prospects: (*indicates highest consideration)

*6'0" PG Tyrell Alcorn of El Cerrito HS 2015 (Oakland Soldiers 17 Blue)
-Tough, strong, good passer, good speed with burst, can make 3 pointer.

6'7" SF LeAndro Amador of Modesto Christian HS 2015 (Lakeshow 16 Elite)
-Long, athletic wing, good driver from perimeter, good finisher around the rim, good feel for the game and is often under control, good passer.

6'3" G Nate Ambrosini of Fortuna HS 2014 (Nor Cal Wildcats 17 Elite)
-Tough nut who plays hard every position, nice lift and go move, strong and can finish through contact, good vision and passer. Attracted a lot of attention from college coaches.

6'6" G/F Jericho Avery of Laguna Creek HS 2014 (PHPS Renegades)
-Good athlete, runs hard and finishes in transition, attacks glass on both ends.

6'5" F Damien Banford of Newark Memorial HS 2014 (North Coast Express Hoopsters 17u)
-Big body, moves well, good ball handler in open court, good passer with soft hands, shoots the 3, will rebound. Really needs conditioning

6'1" PG/G Caleb Baskett of Washington HS 2014 (Lakeshow 17 Elite)
-Strong body, great ball defender with long arms, good straight line driver with quick first step.

6'3" PG Preston Barnett of Christian Brothers HS 2014 (Nor Cal Wildcats 17u)
-Tough and strong guard, smart and knows how to play, effective penetrator, really good defender in full court.
