From the Appeal Democrat:
Tourney Most Valuable Player Danny Lewis scored 14 points and dished out four assists as Marysville High's boys basketball team edged River Valley 59-56 to claim the championship of the Lindhurst Blazer Holiday Classic on Saturday night in Olivehurst.

The Indians started the game with an 11-0 run and held off the Falcons late, avenging an 81-76 loss to River Valley at last month's Twin Cities Shootout in Marysville.

"We went up early, but they fought right back," Indians coach Stan Easter said. "It was a back-and-forth game where both teams led by two or four points, but we hit some shots down the stretch to pull out the win."

Freshman Cornell Greenwood scored 14 points and was credited with great play on the defensive end, and Erik Scheive added eight points and 13 rebounds for the Indians (11-3). Both Greenwood and Scheive were named to the all-tournament team.

Isaiah Halstead dropped in 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the way for River Valley (11-6). All-tournament selection Josh Dhatt added 17 points, five steals and four assists, and fellow all-tourney pick Rohin Basi finished with 14 points.

From Howard Senzel/Press Democrat:
In one of the most stunning upsets in the 32-year history of the Sonoma County Classic, Santa Rosa defeated Cardinal Newman, 50-49, at Piner High on Saturday night.

The victory in the third-place game comes three weeks after the Panthers lost to the Cardinals by 35 points in the Rose City Tournament.
“It’s a big win for us and a big win for the Santa Rosa basketball program,” a smiling coach John McGill said. “Coming back to beat a quality team like Newman after they beat us so convincingly is really something.”
