Baker & Slocum key players for the Nanooks

The Alaska Nanooks are enjoying the basketball skills and abilities being provided by a pair of Bay Area talents. From a recent article:
Senior guard Ronnie Baker (Vallejo, Calif./Communication) has been the Nanooks' leading scorer through the first nine games of the season, averaging 17.6 points per game – fifth-best in the GNAC. He has also corralled 4.6 rebounds and dished 2.8 assists per game. Baker was named GNAC Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 18-24 and was twice named to all-tournament teams during the 2013 portion of the Nanooks' schedule

Junior guard Joe Slocum (San Francisco/Communication) has played a big part in Alaska's defense this season, which ranks second in the GNAC limiting opponents to 68.4 ppg. The Nanooks also have the second-best turnover margin in the conference (+4.44) and have the third-best 3-point percentage defense (opponents shooting 32.2 percent). Slocum leads the GNAC in steals with 2.1 per game (19 in nine appearances). He is fifth in assists per game at 4.8 and is among the conference's top 30 scorers, averaging 10.6 ppg.
